Blogger Q & A

Hi guys! I was challenged by Tanner Mann, author of The Life of a Womann, to answer a couple of questions that everyone always asks about blogging. I love having this blog because it is my own personal space that I can be who I am and talk about what I love without any judgment. I love the people I have met from blogging and all the other positive aspects that have come from it… you can read more below with an Q & A format.  🙂

Why did you start a blog? I started my blog as a creative outlet to showcase my fashion and lifestyle decisions all in one place. It was a hobby for me at first and but now with companies sending me products to post within a timely manner, it sort of became like a second job that I haven’t really started making money from yet. LOL everything takes time right?

Where do you get your writing inspiration from? My inspiration comes from a ton of different places, but I think what takes the cake is other bloggers. You learn that every blogger has their own style and you start to follow people (whether it be on Instagram, personal blog, Twitter, etc.) who inspire you. I have purchased a lot of items from the blogs of Caitlin Covington, Emily Gemma, Katey McFarlan, Alyson Haley, McKenna Bleu, just to name a few. These ladies have a fun, bright wardrobe that I love! They are very well-known bloggers who have figured out the game of blogging, and I always love reading their content and/or keeping up with them on social media.

What words do you have for those who are scared to start their blog? JUST DO IT. My advice for you is to come up with a catchy name, start creating your blog, write some content, take some photos, and when you are ready, hit publish. Just because you create a blog doesn’t mean you have to make it public right away… wait until YOU are ready. Also, I have learned the blogging community is a great resource. If you ever need anything or have any questions, most (can’t speak for all) are willing to help because at one time, they probably had the same question!

What are the ups and downs of having your own blog? The positive side of having a blog for me is all the people I am able to connect with that have the same interests as me. The blogging community is huge so you are able to meet a wide variety of women who want to see you succeed and inspire you throughout your journey. I also enjoy discovering new products I probably would’ve never heard of or bought without the company reaching out to me.  The downside would definitely be time management. I work a full-time job, manage my blog, while keeping up with house and dog mom duties and planning our wedding. I feel like I am tired ALL THE TIME. One more downside that I have just realized lately is always being on my phone. I feel like I live on it and some days when I get home from work, I just put it away and don’t look at it for a couple of hours because I just need that time to relax.

What other interests do you have besides your blog? Other interests besides blogging… hmm… I absolutely love shopping, going to the beach (I’m a Floridian, duh!), relaxing and watching Netflix, traveling with my fiancé, having brunch (+ mimosas) with my girls, planning our wedding, the list goes on….

Where do you hope your blog will take you in the future? One day, I hope to be blogging full-time. It’ll probably take a couple of years to actually get to that point, but I could definitely see myself doing it. People think being a full-time blogger is easy-peasy, but it is a 24/7 job. You are always on the clock, whether it be taking photos, answering emails, posting on social media + answering questions on social media, writing content, buying new products to test, traveling, etc.

I hope everyone has a great rest of their week and hope you have learned a thing or two about why I started this blog and keep it going. Love to all!

Milk & Sass Macaroons

IMG_8558 4IMG_8560 3IMG_8561 3

Hi everyone! Happy Friday Eve — you are probably wondering what the heck I am about to blog about, and to be honest when Milk & Sass first contacted me, I was very intrigued to receive the product. I had no idea what I was about to get in the mail. I am so happy I collaborated with them though, because I received the CUTEST macaroon hairbrushes!!! They are perfect and compact so you can fit them in a small travel-size bag or even your handbag! The macaroons run $15 each and you can pick out of multiple pastel and bright colors which make them even more fun! The opposite side of the brush is a portable mirror where you can check and make sure everything looks good! Such a great travel product!! You should definitely check out their page and give them your support!!

Also – I wanted to point out, my favorite hair products right now are from It’s a 10!! After I get out of the shower, I put detangler in my hair, brush through it and then I spray the It’s a 10 Miracle Leave In Keratin Spray and comb through my hair, after I rub in the It’s a 10 Defrizzer which has worked wonders for my hair. These products are a little bit more pricey, but you get what you pay for. When I buy products for my hair – I usually say Quality over Quantity.

** This post was C/O Milk & Sass! Thank you so much!!! **

I hope everyone has a great Friday!!!

OTK Boots

dsc_6855dsc_6863dsc_6868-1dsc_6870dsc_6873dsc_6888dsc_6899-1

OTK Boots | Denim | Blouse | Kate Spade Handbag | Bangles

Hi everyone! The brand of these boots are Chinese Laundry, and I found them at Burlington Coat Factory for only $40. I knew I had to purchase them, because I have been on the look for forever. I also went to Nordstrom Rack before to check them out and they had REALLY cute OTK boots in light brown & grey, but I feel like they were all too long. I have short legs so I was very picky! 🙂

The fit, the color, and the price of this ASTR blouse had me IN LOVE (for the second time ;)). I love finding a gorgeous, thin top that I can wear all year around here in Florida since it gets so hot. The details on this blouse with the clasp and the strings you can tie gives it a completely different look if that is how you decide to wear it.

On the reals, I missed you guys! I am so happy to be back blogging and being interactive on  my Instagram page. Make sure you are following me on there – @kristinncoffey. Keep a look out on a lot of exciting posts and collaborations I have coming up. 🙂

2017

Welcome back to For the Love of Coffey! I have to admit, it has been a fun and stress-free December not having to blog during this SUPER crazy, busy month. I thought about doing a post here & there, but I literally had no time at all. So I decided to take the entire month off to focus on my finals, graduate from college, and spend time with family and friends during the holidays all while working a full-time job. Talk about exhausting this month has been, but every bit of it has been amazing. So here’s a recap on 2016 – and some 2017 resolutions…

Wow! What a year it has been, 2016 definitely felt like the fastest year of my life. I feel like I was just writing my blog post { 2 0 1 6 } just the other week. Personally, this year was a great year for me, there’s been a couple ups and downs, but whose life is perfect?! Let’s take a walk down memory lane…

  • Rang in 2016 for the 7th time with the love of my life
  • Traveled to the beautiful city of Charleston with one of our favorite couples
  • Traveled to New York City for 8 days with 16 random girls from the University of Florida, who ended up becoming more like a fam… they are absolutely wonderful and I am so happy I had the opportunity to meet all of them (Oh and we got to touch the New Years Eve Ball- good luck maybe?!)
  • Turned the big “2-4”, can I just stay this age forever?! ahhhhh
  • Traveled to Los Angeles with my lover
  • BEING PROPOSED TOO AT THE TOP OF GRIFFITH OBSERVATORY IN LA (my favorite!!!!)
  • Loving every minute of being engaged and wedding planning
  • Found the PERFECT venue for our wedding
  • Found the PERFECT dress for our wedding
  • Lots of pool/lake parties
  • Traveling to Palm Coast and vacationing at our venue for 4 days
  • Taking my last final ever
  • GRADUATING FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA
  • Bringing in 2017 with my fiancé ❤

Just a few noteworthy things that happened this year that made it the best year yet… I can’t wait to hit 100% on the wedding planning, but I have to admit I am enjoying every second of it. I am so happy now I get to focus mainly on it now that school is done. For. Good. Some resolutions for 2017 because, you know, the new year wouldn’t be right if we didn’t have any…

  • Staying calm while wedding planning & while getting closer to the wedding
  • Exercise more, eat healthy (less pizza & cookies, y’all)
  • Take care of my body, you only get one
  • Blog, blog, blog – I have so so so many ideas for you all, I can’t wait to share!!
  • Enjoy being engaged and don’t rush anything
  • Travel, travel, travel – we are still up in the air about our honeymoon so any recommendations would be great
  • SHOP less, SAVE more – words a blogger never want to hear
  • Be the best person I can be to everyone around me because no one is guaranteed tomorrow

SO CHEERS TO 2017!!!

May all your blessings be answered and dreams come true ❤ I am so so so excited to see what this year has in store for everyone.

Guest Blogger ft. Tanner Mann

Hi beauties, I feel like this has been a Monday from, you know where. I am so not used to publishing on Monday’s so I have felt like I have been running around/hurrying home from work so I have time to perfect everything before I hit “publish”.

Nevertheless, I have been very excited to post this particular blog post since last week because I have collaborated with my soul sister/fellow blogger, Tanner Mann, author of “The Life of a Womann”. We came up with a set of “interview-like” questions to ask each other, so we could express ourselves and show you all why we love blogging, how we got started, etc. Below are Tanner’s answers — Also, don’t forget to head on over to The Life of a Womann to check out my answers!

IMG_4950.JPGIMG_4951.JPG

Of course when { T W O } bloggers get together, we can’t go without a little photo sesh… even in the rain 😛

  1. Why did you start blogging?
  • I have always had such a love for beauty, makeup, and fashion. In high school I started watching makeup tutorials and completely fell in love with the media side of beauty.  Starting a blog was an outlet for my creativity and inspiration.  I love being able to share a new product that I just can’t live without or finding a deal that I know everyone else would enjoy!

  1. How much time do you spend on your blog a week?
  • Believe it or not, constructing a blog post is much more than sitting down and writing the words that come to mind. I have a journal that is specific to planning blog ideas. Once I have decided on the subject, I take the time to pick out an outfit for blog/Instagram pictures. Getting ready for pictures takes up the most time—and then finding a location and taking the pictures.  Sometimes a post even involves a bit of research.  With all of these aspects of blogging involved, I spend approximately 10-15 hours per week.

  1. What blogger/vlogger inspires you the most?
  • When it comes to makeup I am most inspired by Jaclyn Hill. She shares all of her beauty tips and tricks on her YouTube channel and blog.  When I am in a rut and just need a new idea, I always look to this beautiful soul to get my creative juices flowing.
  • My fashion icon is Desi Perkins! If you aren’t following her on all social media platforms, you should be. She is a makeup/fashion vlogger from L.A, who always pushes the limits and slays every outfit.

  1. Is blogging a profession for you or just a hobby?
  • As of now, blogging is a hobby. I work a full time job during the week and spend most of my time on the weekends blogging, I would love to one day dedicate all of my time to blogging and have the opportunity to make a career of it.

  1. What is the most challenging part about blogging?
  • Coming into blogging I thought this would be an extremely fun and easy process. I learned how wrong I was very quickly.  I think the most challenging part is Instagram/taking pictures.  Because I work a full time job, I don’t get to slay a stiletto heel every day, so I try to take most of my pictures on the weekend to last throughout the week.  When taking pictures, you have to find the perfect background, get the perfect angle, and find the perfect edit.  I am still training my husband on the angles.

  1. How did you come up with your blog name?
  • When choosing the name of my blog, I wanted something fun and chic that still incorporated my personality and what my platform was. Since most of my content is geared towards women and my last name is Mann, “The Life of a Womann” fit the part perfectly.  This actually came to me out of nowhere…that is when you know it is the one.

  1. In the future, where do you see yourself in the blogging world?
  • My goal and dream is to start a beauty YouTube channel and start producing vlogs, while still blogging weekly. I love everything about the blogging/vlogging world and would love to live a hustle and bustle life in New York City blogging for large makeup and fashion companies.

  1. What is your favorite trend at the moment?
  • If you follow me on any social media, you will not be surprised with this answer. I am so obsessed with chokers right now.  I love them with any and every outfit, dressy or casual.  They just add a hint of sass to any outfit and also create slimming effect.Picture1

This was such a fun post and bringing it to life was even more fun. We got together last week, did our makeup, took pictures, ate Bento (our fav!!!!), danced a little, took more pictures and just had a blast being the girly girls we are. I can’t wait to do it again. We have a couple more collaboration ideas, so if you enjoyed this post let us know what you think about doing more. I know we are super excited about them!

Warby Parker

There’s only a couple things better than the feeling of looking at the beautiful summer blue sky with a new pair of shades on. I don’t know about you but I get overly excited when I get my hands on some stylish, affordable sunglasses, so excited that I never want to take them off. Have you all heard of Warby ParkerAmong many things, there are { T H R E E } things that pop out about this company that I absolutely love!!

The first and ultimate thing is the fact that they give back. A large percentage of the world can’t afford to buy glasses, which means people are not able to learn or work effectively. Warby Parker has generously teamed up with non-profits such as VisionSpring so that for every pair of glasses sold, a pair will be distributed to someone in need.

The second thing I love about this company is their “Home Try On” abilities.  This aspect of the company allows a customer to choose 5 pairs of sunglasses or prescription glasses that they will ship to you for 5 days. That gives you plenty of time to get a feel for all of glasses before you have to send them back. They’ll send you a fresh new pair of the ones (or more) you love. Can you honestly tell me another company that does that?

The third thing is their limited edition Field Series Line that was launched this summer. The new line has 3 distinct styles with 2 colors to choose from. The polarized frames are perfect for taking in that beautiful, summer, blue sky I mentioned earlier.

  • The first of the three styles is the Reed, which comes in a Green Spruce or Jet Black Matte if you are going for a sleek, sexy look. Just picture black leather pants, black pumps with a stylish blouse. Now, who came up with orange is the new black? You’ll be looking like a celebrity!! Another more casual look for inspiration below!
    • WP_Reed_101_Sunglasses_Angle_A2_sRGBProductImageStyleGuide_v2FullSizeRender-15
  • The second style is the Grady, which comes in Whiskey Tortoise (Gorgeous!!!) and Crystal Aqua. This style has fun cutout details that makes the Grady’s that much more fashionable.
    • ProductImageStyleGuide_v2ProductImageStyleGuide_v2
  • Finally, the third style is the Bonnie aka my personal favorite. The look of these sunglasses are more round, with an oversized frame. The 2 colors it comes in are Walnut Tortoise with Polished Gold (the ones I have been eyeing and might be purchasing soon, also shown in the picture below!) and the other color is Grapefruit Soda with Reisling. Some outfit inspiration below for this style of sunglasses.
    • WP_Bonnie_242_Sunglasses_Angle_A3_sRGBProductImageStyleGuide_v2FullSizeRender-1

This limited edition set of sunglasses need to be your next summer purchase. The freedom they give you to dress them up however you decide is one of my favorite things about them. Warby Parker is located all over the United States. Their products can also be found on their website www.warbyparker.com.

Current Obsessions + the #Nsale

At the beginning of every week, I start to research and decide what I want to blog about for the upcoming week. There were literally a thousand things I wanted to write about for this post, so I decided to do a “Current Obsession” post. With the Anniversary Sale going on at Nordstrom (like a Black Friday for Nordstrom) and many personal products that I love, I have so much I want to share.

If you don’t know what the Anniversary Sale or #Nsale is, Nordstrom has a MAJOR sale every year where they bring in BRAND NEW ARRIVALS at SUPER SALE PRICES!!! So all the new Fall fashions are on the sale right now. The sale opened up July 14th, but it was an early access for Nordstrom Card Holders only. Today, July 22nd, it opens up to the public, so ANYONE can shop!!! If you are in a shopping mood, head over to Nordstrom and shop shop shop! I will share what I bought and my personal favs from the sale as well.

One of my favorites from the #Nsale is the “Karly” Shift Dress by Lush. This dress is gorgeous, comes in 8+ colors, and only $31 right now. Definitely a steal and such great quality. I added the link above so you can check it out for yourself. 🙂

My next fav from the #Nsale are basic tees. One of my favorite summer looks is jean shorts and a basic tee with cute lace up shoes or espadrilles. So simple but stylish. Lush makes the perfect basic tee, I bought it almost in every color. They are on sale right now for $15!!

I can’t wait to share the other items I bought from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I have to patiently wait for everything to come in the mail! Sad……… so I wanted to share other products that I am currently obsessing over that doesn’t have to do with the #Nsale 🙂

IMG_4489

First: Limencello Candle from B&BW – my absolutely favorite!! I originally bought it to try it out because all my friends were obsessing over it so I figured why not? Well, I went back and bought three more… it just makes your house smell so lemony fresh and its such a soft smell, if you know what I mean. I recommend it 100%!

Second: ANY pink polish for summer, the last 3 months my nails have been various shades of pink. Not ashamed…. it is such a pretty color for summer!!

Third: Chanel lipgloss, one of my friends sadly told me that this color was only a limited edition which is unfortunate. If I knew, I would’ve bought more!! Chanel has a ton of colors in this certain lipgloss that I am not worried you couldn’t find one you loved.

Fourth: Hempz Herbal Body Moisturizer in Vanilla Plum, I bought this only a few weeks ago and have used it every day. It comes in lots of different scents and it took me about 20 minutes to find out the one I wanted. I wanted them all!! Lol! I linked Ulta which they are $16.99, but I actually found this one at TJ Maxx for $12.

Fifth: Tartlette In Bloom eyeshadow palette – I bought this in the spring, but have used it almost daily this summer. The colors are so neutral and pretty for summer, it barely looks like you have anything on! Love it and recommend it. It also smells like chocolate! 😛

Sixth: Anything book by Lauren Weisberger – her books are great for a quick summer read if you are into that sorta thing! Loving this book right now “Chasing Harry Winston”!

Seventh: One more of my favorite this summer is the colored drink from Starbucks! My favorite though is the #OrangeDrink. I am obsessed with oranges and mangos so naturally its my number one. If you haven’t tried it yet, please try it!!! The ingredients are Orange/Mango Juice, Vanilla Powder, and Coconut Milk.

What are your current summer obsessions? I would love to hear and maybe try out for myself 🙂 Don’t forget to follow my adventures on Instagram!
